Source of information for you You will have a complete list of member companies, with contacts and telephone numbers, which is regularly updated. Considerable business is conducted between member companies. You will receive a regular Newsletter, which includes updates on members information, activities of the Committee as directed at the AGM, industry news from allied associations, exhibitions and publications which may be of interest and export sales and agency opportunities. You will have one contact point for general information relating to Health and Safety, British Standards, equipment suppliers, exhibitions, and EU legislation. TheÂ annual AGM is an opportunity for you to meet other members and review the activities of the PMMDA during the previous year, which are covered in the printed Chairmans Report. The PMMDA issues Guide To... for various items of ancillary equipment, eg, Chillers, Dryers, Mould Temperature Controllers, Granulators and Robots. Members have the opportunity to sit on the relevant working groups or to be consulted, according to their degree of interest in the equipment. Working For You Your company details and the equipment you supply are included on the PMMDA Website. The PMMDA Website will link to members own websites, where these exist. The PMMDA runs a regular small advertisement promoting the membership in the trade press. Your company name and contact are included on the list of specific machinery requested through the PMMDA office, according to the information supplied for the database. A list of members is sent to all companies requesting suppliers of specific machinery. You have the right to use the PMMDA logo on all your stationery and in your advertisements. Your company details and the equipment you supply are incorporated into the PMMDA Machinery Guide The PMMDA logo is included with its entry in two industry directories. The PMMDA maintains a press list of nearly 100 contacts, who receive periodic information and copies of publications issued by the association. As the PMMDA enjoys good relations with the trade press in the UK and Europe, it is consulted for views and comments on current topics. The PMMDA works to protect members by getting unnecessary legislation and regulations amended so it is sensible and practical. The PMMDA arranges for the confidential collection and exchange of market information. Interplas As co-sponsors of INTERPLAS, the PMMDA is consulted at an early stage on dates, costs, service requirements, etc. We are represented on the Steering Committee and the Technical Committee and members are kept informed via the Newsletter and asked for any comments they may wish to be raised. Exhibiting PMMDA members also benefit from a reduction in stand space costs. The PMMDA has a free advertisement in the catalogue and every member exhibiting at the exhibition has the PMMDA logo included with his entry and that of his principals, as applicable. The association gives all exhibitors a large logo for siting on their stand during the exhibition and in their reception in the intervening years. Affiliation to other bodies The PMMDA through its affiliation and contacts with other associations works to achieve common aims. Since 1997, the PMMDA has been affiliated to the BPF which entitles our members to their members rates for publications and seminars. The PMMDA has a representative on the Health & Safety Engagement Committee,Â chaired by the H&SE. The PMMDA is also represented on the Cogent Sector Skills Council and Council of the National Training Organisation for the Polymer and Allied Industries. The PMMDA sponsors an award for the Trainee or Apprentice of the Year at the Annual Plastic Industry Awards.Â  We also sponsor a teacher for the annual Polymer Study Tours. Qualifying Companies Will be suppliers - agents, distributors or subsidiaries - or British manufacturers of plastics processing machinery and/or ancillary equipment, selling to the UK market and overseas. Membership is only open to UK based companies. Criteria for full Membership At least two of the following criteria must also be met before an application can be processed: The company must have been trading for at least one and preferably two years. The equipment offered must be well established in the UK market or in its country of origin, e.g. equipment manufactured by internationally known companies seeking to expand into the UK market. The General Manager/Owner, who is usually the nominated representative of the company and to whom all correspondence is sent, must be well known and respected within the industry. The eight founder companies set out to agree a range of standards for both UK manufacturers and distributors of foreign machinery. Three of these companies, Soag Limited, Industrial Plastics and Hamilton Machinery Sales, are still with us. From the need for quality of products, technical competence and service back-up came our association. We have recently been in discussions with Campden BRI regarding a two-day work-shop on Plastic Packaging and its impact upon Shelf-life. Few of those working in the food and packaging industries have had formal education in food packaging. Decisions about which polymers to choose or what the effect on shelf life will be if a change is made in package dimensions or polymer type are often based on trial and error or intuition. This workshop is an attempt to fill that gap with respect to plastic packaging by discussing the basic principles behind polymer selection, deteriorative reactions in foods and shelf-life. The properties of the newer bio-based polymers such as PLA and PHA will also be discussed. This will email you a sample email (using contents.html for the email body) and two attachments.
