The European Technical Committee CEN/TC 145 deals with the standardisation of safety requirements for plastics and rubber machines.
 
Listed  below are the Working Groups that belong to TC 145 with the updates (as at 03.08) of their activity.

WG 1 = prEN 201 rev - WI 00145037  [Injection moulding machines]
In August 2001 TC 145 decided to revise the standard.  The first meeting took place in June 2002 and last one in May 2007. The revision activity has taken a lot of time due to the inclusion of Amendment 2(published in the OJEU n.c. 336 on 31.12.2005) on electric injection moulding machines.  On November 8, 2007 the draft was submitted to enquiry that will expire on April 8, 2008.The deadline fixed by CMC to send the document to formal vote is 31.08.08..
 
WG 2 = EN 289:2004 - WI 00145023  [Presses]
The standard EN 289:2004 was published in the OJEU n. C 336 on 31.12.2005. In 2007  this document was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. On December 18, 2007 the Technical Committee received a positive assessment.
 
WG 3 = prN 1114-1 rev - WI 00145039  [Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 1: Extruders]
In March 2006 the Technical Committee decided to revise the standard.  The first meeting took place in November 2006 and the last in March 2007.  On December6, 2007 the draft was submitted to enquiry which will expire on May 6, 2008.  The deadline fixed by CMC to send the document to formal vote is 31.08.2008. .
 
WG 3 = EN 1114-2:1998 - WI 00145011  [Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 2: Die face pelletisers]
In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 3 = EN 1114-3:2001 - WI 00145012  [Extruders and extrusion lines - Part 3: Haul-offs]
EN 1114-3 was published in the OJEU n. C 332 on 27.11.2001. The second review expired in April 2006. On October 24, 2006 the TC decided to circulate a second review at soonest. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and is currently being assessed for full revision.
 
WG 4 = EN 1417:1996 - WI 00145004  [Two roll mills]
EN 1417 was published in the OJEU n. C 93 on 22.3.1997. In December 2001 TC 145 confirmed this standard for five further years.  In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and  the TC will look at commencing a full revision shortly.
 
WG 5 = prEN 422rev - WI 00145005  [Blow moulding machines intended for the production of hollow articles]
EN 422 was published in the OJEU n. C 229 on 8.8.1996. In December 2000 TC 145 confirmed the standard for five further years. After an enquiry per correspondence closed in March 2005, the WG has been reactivated, Mr Claudio Celata of UNI-ASSOCOMAPLAST has been appointed as WG 5 Convenor. In December 2005 commenced revision of this standard. The first meeting took place October 2006 and the last in June 2007. On October 17, 2007 the draft was sent to enquiry which wil be launched inJanuary 2008. The deadline fixed by CMC to send the document to formal vote is 31.08.08.
 
WG 6 = EN 12012-1:2000 - WI 00145036  [Size reduction machines - Part 1: Blade granulators]
EN 12012-1 was published in the OJEU n. C 332 on 27.11.2001. TC 145 has decided to publish an editorial Amendment of the standard. The UAP procedure for the Amendment closed on 22.5.2006. The publication has been stopped by TC 145 Chairman. On October 24, 2006 the TC decided to proceed with the publication after an editorial modification. The final text was published  in March 2007. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.  The UK along with three other member states voted for full revision. No further news available.
 
WG 6 = EN 12012-2/A1:2003 - WI 00145031  [Size reduction machines - Part 2: Strand pelletizers]
EN 12012-2 was published in the OJEU n. C 141 on 14.6.2002. Amendement EN 12012-2:2001/A1:2003 was published in the OJEU n. C 336 on 31.12.2005. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 6 = EN 12012-3:2001 - WI 00145019  [Size reduction machines - Part 3: Shredders]
EN 12012-3 was published in the OJEU n. C 332 on 27.11.2001. On the occasion of last TC meeting in 2005 the TC decided to revise editorially the standard. On October 24, 2006 the TC decided to circulate a second review. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The UK along with two other member states voted for technical amendment or  full revision but no further news is  available.
 
WG 6 = EN 12012-4:2006 - WI 00145029  [Size reduction machines - Part 4: Agglomerators]
The standard was published by CEN on 15.11.2006. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 7 = EN 12013:2000 - WI 00145038  [Internal mixers]
EN 12013 was published in the OJEU n. C 332 on 27.11.2001. Through the review enquiry in 2005 TC 145 has decided to proceed with the editorial revision of the standard. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 8 = EN 12301:2000 - WI 00145008  [Calenders]
EN 12301:2000 was published in the OJEU n. C 332 on 27.11.2001. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 9 = EN 1612-1:1997 - WI 00145009  [Reaction moulding machines - Part 1: Metering and mixing units]
EN 1612-1 was published in the OJEU n. C 78 on 13.3.1998. In March 2002 TC 145 confirmed this standard for five further years. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. On December 18 2007 TC received a positive assessment but with the request to revise or technically update the standard as soon as possible. No further news available.
 
WG 9 = EN 1612-2:2000 - WI 00145015  [Reaction moulding machines - Part 2: Reaction moulding plant]
EN 1612-2 was published in the OJEU n. C 78 on 10.3.2001. According to Resolution 7/2004 both part 1 and 2 will be revised after prEN 14886 publication. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.No further news available.
 
WG 10 = prEN 12409 rev. - WI 00145035  [Thermoforming machines]
EN 12409 was published in the UE Official Journal n° C 110 on 15.4.2000. Through the review in July 2004 TC 145 decided to revise the standard. The first enquiry was closed August 2006. In February 2007, the Working Group examined the comments received during first enquiry. The document was sent to formal vote in December 2007.
 
WG 12 = EN 13418:2004 - WI 00145020  [Winding machines for film or sheet]
The standard EN 13418:2004 was published in the OJEU n. C 336 on 31.12.2005. In November 2007 this  standard  was submitted to UAP for Simple Amendment to bring it in line with the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
 
WG 14 = prEN 15067 - WI 00145025  [Film converting machines for bags and sacks]
T
he activity started in February 2001. CEN first enquiry expired on 21.4.2005. The text was sent to formal vote by 20.10.2006 but has been rejected by the CEN Consultants. The WG Editing Committee is preparing a modified version to be sent to formal vote.
 
WG 15 = prEN 14886 - WI 00145026  [Band-knife cutting machines for block foams]
After undergoing a revision in 2007, this standard has now been approved for publication.
